Reflection on Fascia and Time

Steve Paxton, in Theatre papers, 1977 ‘Now one of things Contact seems to bring it is an ability, quite soon in the process, to take advantage of the different perceptions of time as they occur.’

I found out that fascia is the organ of time. There is a particular time associated  to the fascia. As a massage therapist working mainly with soft tissue, I can recognize how being slow enables me to enter the ‘quality of the fascia’ and enter in a dialogue with it. If being to quick and hard, the tissues will push me out and tend to stiffen that I consider to be a protection. In the same way one would talk harshly to someone, the response engendered can be reactive and more easily be defensive. In order to set up a dialogue there need to be listening.
