What is it?
ImprovLab interweaves artistic practices mainly rooted in our areas of expertise: contact improvisation, dance, music, and physical theatre, with a particular focus on embodiment.
We use improvisation as a tool and as an art in itself to uncover interactions, creativity, connection, humour and layers of meaning.

What can you expect?
We move and explore together in solos, duets, and with the group. We open up to who and what is present on that day. Each session will have a different theme and be divided into two parts: one to get new input and one to improvise and go further.
We will navigate our collective journey through creative scores, guided solo and group explorations, embodiment, performances in the making.

Who is it for?
-You have a creative practice and wish to gain more tools to create, choreograph, direct, improvise and compose in real time and space.
-You are a contact improviser who wants to dig deeper into various ways of improvising and performing
-You want to play and be inspired
These sessions are for professionals and non-professionals alike, and they are open to people of different abilities and experiences. The important thing is curiosity and an openness to try something new.

Why join us?
-learn from 3 professional artists from the dance, physical theatre and music fields, with expertise in contact improvisation and devised performance
-gain insight into our creative process
-play with a group of multidisciplinary creatives and inspire each other

Themes and questions we’ll explore:
• The relationship between movement and music, space, theatricality, partners, and the observer.
• How can we dialogue with music as a partner?
• How can we listen, respond, and influence within evolving relationships?
• What is the power of a witness in performance, and how does it energise and engage us differently?
