Marie’s approach brings particular attention to embodiment, floor work, fluidity, relationality, presence and how gravity moves us and moves through us.
Grounding the practice in technicality, contact improvisation and somatic awareness, this class will navigate between embodied explorations and technical phrases.
While starting with guided explorations, we tune into the perceptual and sensory body. The class then builds up towards integrating higher physicality and precision while engaging with the group.
Each class will offer a different focus and entry point
About:
Marie Chabert is a performer, choreographer, contact improviser, and teacher whose work is rooted in collaboration and multidisciplinary practice, blending dance, text, live music and audience interaction.
Her work has been commissioned by Tanzfabrik in Berlin and has been showcased at the Camden Fringe festival in London, the Resolution festival at The Place in London, at the Open Art festival in Freiburg, the Biennale de la Danse Off de Lyon in France, at Toplocentrala in Bulgaria, at the In&Out festival in Burkina Faso, at the Centro Nacional de la Danza and Foramen festival in Mexico amongst others.
As a performer she has worked with Katie Green Dance, Fin Walker, Kate Flatt, Freddie Opoku-Addaie, Retina Dance Company, Lionel Hoche, Jean Abreu, Vera Tussing amongst others and has performed extensively at The Royal Opera House.
Marie curates the Monday Contact Improvisation Jam at Mill-co and founded Women’s Touch. She is also co-founder of The Godet, a multidisciplinary collective.
She obtained a Bachelor of Art in contemporary dance from the London Contemporary Dance School and a Master of the Art from Trinity Laban and Independent Dance. She received the Gill Clark Bursary and the Leverhulme scholarship.
