Don’t miss this one-off Contact Improvisation and Buddhism Workshop !

Background
With over 22 years of Contact Improvisation and 16 years of dedicated Buddhist practice, I’m excited to share a workshop that weaves together these two practices.

This is an invitation to explore the deep resonance between embodied movement and a spiritual practice rooted in daily life.

What?
In this workshop, we’ll focus on two central concepts from the Japanese Buddhist tradition of Nichiren Daishonin:

  • Esho Funi – the oneness of life and its environment
  • Interdependent Origination – the profound interconnectedness of all phenomena

How?
We’ll explore these principles through the body, using simple movement and choreographic scores—working in and out of touch with one or several partners. Metaphors, imagery, and playfulness will guide our physical inquiry.
There will also be the opportunity to chant the mantra Nam-myoho-renge-kyo together (optional), as well as time for questions, sharing, and open discussion.

Side routes
Other underlying values and possible avenues for exploration include:
empowerment, self-responsibility, tuning in to self and others (opening the doors of one’s life as a way to open the doors of the universe), presence, embracing the limitless potential of each moment, and transforming assumptions, arrogance, or judgment into care, compassion, and gratitude.

Who is it for?
This workshop is open to movers of all backgrounds and levels—whether you are new or experienced in either Contact Improvisation or Buddhism.
Come as you are.
